maybe maybe maybe
Here is a GUI tool to manipulate Exif data, which is the most common form of metadata.

Software for Metadata Search and Creation?
Does anyone have any recommendations for software that can create metadata, especially keywords? I also need recommendations for software that is able to search through all the metadata and present files based on keywords or any other rules that make it easy to locate files. Currently looking at jEXIFToolGUI, I prefer the GUI because many different files (especially images) require me to be able to see a preview and using a command line tool would take a massive amount of time to create the metadata

[bulk exif editor] Help?
commandline exiftool if it is ok for you, probably fastes way how to transfer Cretated to Original date for lot of files, or jExifToolGUI if you need gui app - https://hvdwolf.github.io/jExifToolGUI/

Looking for a way to tag my photo collection with keywords
To just browse and tag, Adobe Bridge is free and will to correctly add metadata following the IPTC Photo Metadata Standard. Also free and uses exiftool on the backend is jExifToolGUI.

App to automatically change metadata based on filename
There may be GUIs for it, the search words would be exiftool and gui. Here is jExifToolGui. It seems to be as pretty as its name; I have no experience with it.

Why this program (Metadata cleaner) from Flatpack needs that much of space? (Mint 20.1)
mat is not the only option. Most of the time I use exiftool, but on images I also use Imagemagick. I recently found an interesting GUI front-end for exiftool called jExifToolGUI - it is available as an AppImage, so you do not have to worry about dependencies and removing it is as simple as deleting the file. https://github.com/hvdwolf/jExifToolGUI/releases

360 panorama on Google my business starts off facing downward
You will have to add/alter the metadata of the image. One rather complicated way is through exiftool (GUI https://github.com/hvdwolf/jExifToolGUI/releases), changing values for InitialViewHeadingDegrees IitialViewPitchDegrees InitialViewRollDegrees in GPano tab

is there any exiftool to remove created and modified date?
There's only one exiftool program, located at exiftool.org, though there are some programs that use exiftool on the backend, such as hvdwolf's jExifToolGUI.

Ask HN: Anyone looking for contributors for their open source projects
Sure, I write small python CLI utils that help me solve media organization, media consumption, and sometimes data analysis. I use this every day on Linux and Android but I haven't tested it on other platforms. There are a lot of different subcommands and, although the CLI package will always be opinionated to some extent, there is a lot of niche functionality which might not need to exist. So I'm open to things being refactored or new subcommands being added. [1]
I have a lot of ideas for new ones, for example, I want a CLI that can take an artist name like "Theodor Kittelsen" and fetch highest quality public domain images--but I realize any implementation that does this well will be somewhat fragile so I haven't really attempted that yet. Other ideas that I have are often solved by piping output from one of my existing commands to another.

After over 15 years of ripping and downloading, my music library just reached 20TB. AMA
I have a little over 2 million songs as well and I wrote my own media management system to deal with it all. I save everything as Opus so the size is relatively small but still high-quality.
-
Those of you with 100TB+, what do you do for backups?
Losing the data from the hard drive AND the internet is less likely than just one of those events happening. Recently I accidentally deleted 12 TB of media and I was able to redownload 80% of it using a script that I wrote. 20% of it I had to manually redownload but everything was still there.

Ask HN: Those making $0/month or less on side projects – Show and tell
https://github.com/chapmanjacobd/library
My passion project is building CLI tools for managing files and curating media. I've been at it about 2 years now.
Most recently I wrote a subcommand for balancing files between disparate disks. Useful for mergerfs filesystems
