Linux continues to remain above 1% on the Steam Hardware Survey
Yes, it compiles and works nicely on Windows, and there are a bunch of .vclxproj* and *.sln files available to make the build process with MS Visual Studio as smooth as possible.

Linux continues to remain above 1% on the Steam Hardware Survey
The elder scrolls series works pretty well under WINE, and there are a few guides on how to mod on Linux (such as this one). As for the Windows Store, that's a deal breaker, since they run with a very specific DRM. With WINE it depends on the game, there may be a minor degrade in performance, but in some cases there is a boost in performance.

Gaming on Linux viable?
If you require some kind of software to install/load the mods (like you do for Skyrim and GTA), you can probably either find an alternative to the popular Windows equivalent or run the software through wine. There are often tutorials on the internet to do this, especially for the games that are more popular in the modding community. Here is one that I found for Skyrim SE
