How have you built your layout?
I have a 3x5 corne. I use qwerty with home row mods mirrored on both sides. a = a/ctrl, s = s/alt, d = d/gui, f = f/shift. I have a navigation/extra symbols layer with vim style arrows on the home row of the right side and mods on the left side. A numbers layer with mods on the home row and numbers at the top. A function layer with function keys at the top in the same positions as the numbers. A bluetooth layer for managing bluetooth profiles. I find it works well for me but I don’t think any one layout works for everyone. Here’s my layout: https://github.com/int3rrupt/zmk-config/blob/master/config/corne.keymap

Split keyboards with RGBs for each switch?
my keymaps, if they're useful: * Corne * Kyria
-
RBG backlighting macros for Caps, Layer, etc.
it's a mess but most of the code is in my keymap.c at line 402 and config.h
-
It even fits in the pockets of my pants
I found home row mods worked better for me once I enabled TAPPING_TERM_PER_KEY and bumped Ctrl, Alt and Super up by 100ms. I left Shift at 200ms. (my keymap)

I'm learning QMK so my keymap is a bit of a mess :)

Aide Memoire - what's where?
I have runtime Alpha and Mac/PC switching functional, it ain't pretty though and occasionally crashes. Once it's cleaned up I'll shoot you a PR.
