Looks like the build chains for some packages use gnu tools..but I guess pretty much impossible of getting rid of that.

BSD/Unix like Distribution?
Check out sabotage [https://github.com/sabotage-linux/sabotage]. Musl, busybox and busybox init + runit services. 38MB of RAM on my machine, it's self hosting so I guess meant for desktop use.
