icloud-photos-sync VS docker-icloudpd

There's this: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/photokit "The framework provides access to photos on the person’s device and in iCloud."

If you want to use undocumented APIs on non-Apple devices directly, there are projects like https://github.com/steilerDev/icloud-photos-sync and https://github.com/icloud-photos-downloader/icloud_photos_do... that appear to be able to do this.

AFAIK, it doesn’t support shared iCloud libraries but https://github.com/steilerDev/icloud-photos-sync does.

Same use case, however separate from the (more or less abandoned) pyicloud project.

It’s been great for backing up for backing up photos and videos. Haven’t tried any other files though.

I followed this instructions to ssh into my synology nas and install the package and download all my photos https://www.reddit.com/r/synology/comments/10hw71g/comment/j5f8bd8/ If you want to use docker it should be very similar. There is also a docker container on github that a lot of people use https://github.com/boredazfcuk/docker-icloudpd

You could check out https://github.com/boredazfcuk/docker-icloudpd to download iCloud Photos to a local disk.

I intend to use iCloudPhotosDownloader to backup approximately 5 family member's photo libraries. If anyone has advice on the best way to do this and incorporate it with my other photo archives, that'd be great!
