From xz to ibus: more questionable tarballs
1.5.29-rc2 was tagged on 9 Nov 2023 [1] and in did not contain "N_("CJK Unified Ideographs Extension I")," in src/ibusunicodegen.h [2].
Commit 228f0a77b2047ade54e132bab69c0c03f0f41aae from 28 Feb 2023 introduced this change instead. It's the same person who tagged 1.5.29-rc2 and committed 228f0a77b2047ade54e132bab69c0c03f0f41aae which is typically an indication the maintainer tar'd their checked out git folder and accidentally included changes not get committed.

The reality of Wayland input methods in 2022 (2022)
I also know input methods work great in Ubuntu (Gnome Wayland) because Gnome supports ibus.
But the article is specifically about incompatibility of input methods among different DEs: Gnome, KDE, wlroots-based environments such as Sway and Hyprland.
After many years, ibus still doesn’t work with wlroots: https://github.com/ibus/ibus/issues/2182
The list of recommended IMEs on Sway are all WIP: https://github.com/swaywm/sway/wiki/Useful-add-ons-for-sway#...
Most people use fcitx5 with Sway because fcitx5 and Sway both support input method unstable v2. But the article explains that v2 is still not universally supported among wayland DEs, and that’s why it’s problematic.

Have no idea what the daemon does practically, here is the GitHub page.

Fedora 38 Beta Released
The F38 beta is currently affected by two (mostly gaming-related) issues that you should be aware of: - https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/2678 -> a lot of SDL-based games have their fullscreen mode broken. The issue is bisected. - https://github.com/ibus/ibus/issues/2480 -> Keyboard input sometimes gets stuck. Issue has already been identified and we're waiting for an ibus release.
- Missing keyboard events with X11 (inc. Wine) with ibus 1.5.28
-
Introducing the common input method
Also, to add to what u/Pizza-Driver said, it seems that ibus is not yet interoperable with the protocol used by Wayland display servers based on wlroots.

What does "Super+." do?
I meant ctrl+., but it looks like ibus recently changed their emoji input shortcut back to super+., so the gtk emoji picker should be available via ctrl+. again without requiring changes: https://github.com/ibus/ibus/commit/1520c39d0d6036da725fcecd932883be3f3d3575

Disable Super+Period default behavior
Looks like it was changed here: https://github.com/ibus/ibus/commit/1520c39d0d6036da725fcecd932883be3f3d3575

From xz to ibus: more questionable tarballs
We started off doing this, but you end up with enormous diffs which are themselves confusing. Example, only about 5% of this change is non-generated:

Microsoft: Windows 10 22H2 is the final version of Windows 10
And inside the registry. The apparently correct way to distinguish them is using the build ID:

QEMU Version 6.0.0 Released
There's a lot of useful command-line tooling for KVM and QEMU-based virt. Here's a small selection of useful tools:
• virsh — This[1] is libvirt's shell interface; and gives you access to the rich set of libvirt APIs.
• virt-builder — Use this for rapidly building minimal or customized virtual machines; it's greatly flexible; check out its man page[2]. And here's[3] a quick example that connects both virt-builder and virsh together.
• virt-install — Use this if you don't like the default build of the template images from virt-builder; it lets you create "headless" servers via 'kickstart' and Linux OS trees from the command-line.
• guestfish and libguestfs suite[4] — This rich set of tools help you in a variety of use-cases: repairing your broken disk images, editing, cloning, debugging disk images, and more. It has saved my behind a lot of times.
• qemu-img[5] – This Swiss Army knife lets you powerfully manipulate disk images (QCOW2, raw, et al) offline. Example operations include: create images, backing chains, offline snapshots, disk image merging, and convert disk images from one format to another, and more.

How to use Python libraries effectively when they aren't in PyPI?
That's a good point. As long as the project has a setup.py or pyproject.toml available, it can usually be installed from the repo. For libguestfs it looks like they do some pre-processing on their setup.py so that wouldn't work, it's lucky that they had this alternative set up already. :)

Probably the Simplest Way to Install Debian/Ubuntu in QEMU
Nah, this virt-install preseed script is faster, or even just run virt-builder debian-10 and they're both libvirt not hacky qemu scripts
What are some alternatives?
fcitx - A Flexible Input Method Framework
guestfs-tools - Tools for accessing and modifying guest disk images
fcitx5 - maybe a new fcitx.
UTM - Virtual machines for iOS and macOS
rofimoji - Emoji, unicode and general character picker for rofi and rofi-likes
bcc - BCC - Tools for BPF-based Linux IO analysis, networking, monitoring, and more
sway - i3-compatible Wayland compositor
terraform-provider-libvirt - Terraform provider to provision infrastructure with Linux's KVM using libvirt
yabai - A tiling window manager for macOS based on binary space partitioning
libguestfs-common - Common code shared between libguestfs and tools
void-packages - The Void source packages collection
