Plotting libraries
The permissive typing - aka everything is essentially JSON with a little-bit of sugar on top - is something I've struggled to improve in hvega but have just not had the time/energy to do anything about. That looks like a generic front-end error for when the back-end is unavailable, the back-end error should be more informative, but I don't know where exactly you can find it. At this point it might make sense to open an issue on the issue tracker of IHaskell, they will be able to give you more useful answers.

Newbie: IHaskell + Rasterific?
I haven't actually used IHaskell, however, the png file is presumably created in whatever the working directory is when the script is running. The IHaskell wiki says:
