What do you need to learn to build a JAMstack site?
The theme I created (Hugo Liftoff) is somewhere in between overdoing it and keeping it simple if you want to check it out for inspiration

Quickest way to build a portfolio site with minimal web development knowledge?
Sure thing, here's my personal site. There's also a generic demo and the source code is available on Github. Again, it may be a lot if you're only looking for a basic portfolio but if you plan to create some content in the future you'll have that as an option as well. If you need any help getting it set up just let me know.

Would you use this Hugo theme if I updated the design? (requesting feedback)
Hello Hugo users! Many months ago I made a post on this sub about the release of my first Hugo theme, Hugo Liftoff. It's a blog/portfolio theme for technical content creators.

Are cookie cutter website creators a bad look for a CS student trying to compile all their projects into 1 area?
I’m a CS major with absolutely zero interest in anything front end. Yes I like clean UI but there’s no chance in hell I’m spending time on react or any of that stuff. I used a version of academic pages that can be hosted on GitHub pages for free. If I didn’t want to do that/bother with writing in markdown I would’ve just gone with squarespace or equivalent.

Forking a repo into an existing repo
Github newb here who can use some help. I currently have my personal site in my username.github.io repo that points to my domain www.username.com. I would now like to replace my existing site with a fork of this github pages repo. However when I click "fork" it creates a new repo in my Github account, as expected.
