http4k VS ktoml

You named Express as an example for a good framework - I'd say both http4k and ktor come close to it. Spring Boot would really be on the other end and I met lots of JS/TS devs that didn't even want to touch it. I did have the same impression than you though: Documentation for ktor is not great at all.

http4k has excellent documentation and very simple concepts.

I couple of years ago I was lucky to use http4k, a server as a function web library for Kotlin. It was such a wonderful change compared to every other technologies available in both Java and Kotlin. It's simple.

Testing becomes so much easier too, as one can instantiate a the whole web routing aspect, without having to bind it to a port and having to send real http requests.

If strongly suggest people to take a look at it. It's not perfect, but it's a lot simpler than other frameworks and libraries. And it's a shift in some of the current mentality of using heavy frameworks (such as spring boot) which blow up anyone's cognitive load.

Last week we have finally released a new version (0.5.0) of ktoml, a multiplatform serialization library for TOML format with Kotlin extensions based on KxS 🥳. As many developers are already using version 0.4.0, this announcement may be important for you. This release took us a lot of time, as we had to make slight changes to the library's API, migrate the processing logic to sequences, and finally support serialization and deserialization of multiline strings. Under the hood, we have updated Kotlin, kotlinx.serialization, and made some small improvements (release notes)

In the new release we have focused more on the support of new types to make user’s serialization more convenient. Hi all! I have released new version (0.2.9) of Ktoml (Kotlin native serialization library for Toml format). A bunch of new things were added since my last update in this group, including several new functionalities, support for Kotlin 1.6, KotlinJS, and other things. The library is growing and people are already actively using it. But unfortunately I am still supporting this alone. So I would like to invite you to test new version and may be even to contribute.
