Trouble using deCONZ plugin and Conbee II
Following this guide on the repo, I am running into this warning: [deCONZ] warning: not a deCONZ gateway

PSA Don’t buy safe & sound Smoke detector by First Alert
For anyone new to this game: Homebridge is far better and far easier than HOOBS to maintain over the long haul, regardless of HOOBS marketing insisting otherwise. And don't just trust me on this, ask any popular plugin developer.

Cannot connect to Homebridge
I just image it with rasberry pi imager using the homebridge instructions - https://github.com/homebridge/homebridge-raspbian-image/wiki/Getting-Started.

Open the Door with my Smartwatch
Which is different from Ring's Doorbell, but the fact still remains, Ring doesn't have a smart watch app, nor is it natively HomeKit compatible. However if you set up Homebridge for it, you can make it so.

Eero + homebridge + adguard + homekit
The same Raspberry Pi that Homebridge is on, I'd imagine. It's included as an extra package in the official installer image: https://github.com/homebridge/homebridge-raspbian-image/wiki/How-To-Install-AdGuard-Home

Using a Mac with Ventura... is there any way to install Homebridge on my Raspberry Pi?
As for the original issue - you may have downloaded a corrupt image - if you really want to use their image (rather than build the OS then install) download it from here but check the sha256 of the downloaded file before using Etcher. I use QuickHash on my Mac but other programs exist for all platforms.

How to setup magic occupancy sensor - a basic example will help.
It was complicated to understand at first but the documentation made this pretty clear with some of the examples it provided.

Best motion sensor for homekit

Are there any motion or contact sensors that show as tiles instead of only “Status”? Or did that go away after iOS16?
What you are looking for is called an occupancy sensor. You could buy one with motion sensor or your could use this virtual one - https://github.com/Jason-Morcos/homebridge-magic-occupancy and sync its state with a physical motion sensor with an automation. Here is how it looks like: https://ibb.co/8bLqhPf

How to Keep Lights On In Room with Motion Sensor?
Magic Occupancy
-
Motion sensor with a manual activation timer
The solution I found for this type of automation uses a plugin for "Homebridge" called "Homebridge Magic Occupancy". The plugin creates and exposes an "Occupancy Sensor" to HomeKit along with some clever switches that will allow you to configure the automation you described.

Room detection?
Not with the things you mentioned, but if you don’t need individual identity (ie, identifying you vs someone else), you might be able to cobble something together with motion sensors/cameras and the homebridge magic occupancy plugin.

Occupancy Delay in conjunction with light. Need to add automation to only work at certain times. Is it as easy as it appears on the face of it?
Ahh, I misread. I thought you were using the Magic Occupancy Plugin. That plugin has a Master Shutoff Switch that you could use to accomplish the time-based automations.

Magic Occupancy Sensor
Does anyone use the Magic Occupancy Sensor? I one in our bathroom and we have 5 hue lights and another hue light in the fan. We set up the automations as described in the Magic Occupancy Sensor site ( GitHub - Jason-Morcos/homebridge-magic-occupancy: Occupancy sensor linked to one or more switches with a built-in delay not-unoccupied delay for Homebridge ), except I have two different automations connected to the MO Occupancy sensor depending on the time of day (our day automation turns on the set of 5 hue lights, and the night one only turns on the fan hue light). Otherwise, it is set up exactly as described. I bought a Wemo Smart Scene Controller to control scenes, which should active the MO Light Switch to override turning off based on motion. The idea is I could turn on the fan hue when I take a shower and it won't go off on my due to no motion. For some reason, when using the Wemo, the lights still go off when there is no motion; the MO light switch does not appear to be overriding the motion. Does anyone know how to fix this or if this is an issue with the plugin? TIA
