Can I use Apple Homekit and Amazon Alexa at the same time?
There's a plugin that adds a sensor that tells you if there are plugin updates available.
-
Automatic plugin update script
I might give this a go. I have the homebridge plugin update check https://github.com/Sunoo/homebridge-plugin-update-check which recommended to run it as a child bridge, so you have to turn on notifications for the plugin.

Homebridge Script Runner
I have been in the exact same situation, I managed to sort everything I wanted by using this plugin which is working flawlessly for me https://github.com/pponce/homebridge-script2 (I have two instances of Homebridge and I can restart them without being home or even restart the pi remotely)

Completely unnecessary but awesome: localized illumination only when needed.
Once the scripts were created they need to be executed by a raspberry Pi machine that’s running Homebridge. I use a homebridge plugin called Script2 that will run a Linux command when triggered.

A button to print a page with HB, CUPS, & script in Synology Docker
Running the Script2 plugin, I can't seem to get it to run any scripts, but I'm not sure if that's a dead end or configurable.

Homebridge Automation Replacement
I was looking for a way to do this in Homebridge, maybe some sort of scripting replacement for HomeKit automations. I'm sure I can cobble something together using HomeScript and/or homebridge-script2 but I didn't know if there was a more direct solution to move busywork automations off HomeKit and into Homebridge.

Run SSH script based on GPIO input in Homebridge
2) I have created a Homekit automation which triggers a very simple shell script to take an image and send it to Telegram using https://github.com/pponce/homebridge-script2 This works about 30% of the time. I have reached the end of my multi-month-long effort to debug/fix the automation.

Is there a plugin to make an Raspberry Pi speaker available to HomeKit?
Just as a thought on a way to do it: I could use a script plugin like homebridge-script2 to run a script that is set to play the specific sound on speakers connected to my Rpi. That's kind of a hack but it would work...
