Building an Alternative Ecosystem
Or you can make a GTK+ 3 or 2 app and rely in the future on STLWRT (if it's finished a day). This could be a good alternative since it will have a maintained GTK 3 API. (and also have a scalable architecture that will avoid installing 32 versions of GTK on your system).
