guess-indent.nvim VS nvim-compe

Instead of setting setlocal tabstop=2 shiftwidth=2 softtabstop=2 in each file, I recommend using the following plugin: guess-indent.nvim. It provides automatic indentation style detection for Neovim, which can simplify the process.

The fantastic nmac427/guess-indent.nvim package is used to automatically detect the indentation scheme when a file is opened.

In addition to editorconfig, which other comments have mentioned, there are also plugins that can set your indentation options based on the presence of tabs or spaces in the files you have open. I like guess-indent.nvim.

I use a combination of guess-indent.nvim and :h listchars. Here's how I use them together in my config.

I'd add guess-indent to that list as well, if you're working on a project that doesn't have a set standard on indentation.

I use https://github.com/hrsh7th/nvim-compe and https://github.com/simrat39/rust-tools.nvim along with the built in LSP and auto completion works really well. You will want treesitter and all that setup too.

I want to share my code for my migration from nvim-compe (deprecated) to nvim-cmp. Though, I would describe myself as an experienced Vimmer I am not very familiar with the whole Lua thing (although I really appreciate it and hope that Lua's first class citizen can compete with the elisp ecosystem^^).

This is a like adding a sugar to coffee. - completion-nvim OR nvim-compe for enchanching autocomplete & dropdown menu suggestion. - nvim-treesitter for better syntax highlighting. - telescope.nvim for amazing extensible & configurable fuzzy finder, you can also use fzf if you want. - Any custom color scheme you want (preferably one that supports tree sitter, like aurora )
