- Is there a way to switch between my speakers and headphones without having to reach behind my pc every time?
-
Debian - multiple audio outputs
Now im just using the gnome3 extension https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/906/sound-output-device-chooser/ instead.

Easily switch between audio outputs?
I use the GNOME extension Sound Output device chooser (https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/906/sound-output-device-chooser/) and it has treated me well until tonight when I went through the pulseeffects stuff. Now any time I use it to change outputs, I get 1-2 minutes of echoing audio that progressively gets louder. By the end of the 2 minutes my neighborhood has woken up. I haven't let it go on much longer than that to see if it fixes itself, or continues forever.
- Sound Card is not detected, "dummy output" is displayed in sound setting
- Sound not working
- hotkey/shortcut for swapping audio output device?
-
Can i merge audio streams?
Hello, recently I downloaded very nice audio extensions (gnome should have something like this): https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/906/sound-output-device-chooser/ https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/3499/application-volume-mixer/
- Disable an audio device?

Can't switch/adjust audio input from control panel
The second, related, thing is that I cannot hide audio interfaces that I can switch to in the new picker. This wasn't a Gnome feature, exactly. I used to use https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/906/sound-output-device-chooser/ in Gnome 42 which allowed me to hide interfaces I don't use. This allowed me to bring my selection from 4 interfaces to 2, which greatly improved the usage of the picker.

Dock or plank not working on Gnome 40
Current git build of dash-to-dock from https://github.com/ewlsh/dash-to-dock/tree/ewlsh/gnome-40 works really well for dock. The only downside is that you currently have to compile and install manually, but instructions are on the site so it won't be an issue.

In just 10 minutes of customization I was able to make GNOME look and feel exactly like I want.
The version on extensions.gnome.org (probably) won't work. You need to install sassc, then git pull --single-branch --branch ewlsh/gnome-40 https://github.com/ewlsh/dash-to-dock.git then make and then make install in the folder where the source files were downloaded.

[Gnome 40] How do move the apps dock back to the left?

What are some alternatives?
dash-to-panel - An icon taskbar for the Gnome Shell. This extension moves the dash into the gnome main panel so that the application launchers and system tray are combined into a single panel, similar to that found in KDE Plasma and Windows 7+. A separate dock is no longer needed for easy access to running and favorited applications.
shell - Pop!_OS Shell
dash-to-dock - A dock for the Gnome Shell. This extension moves the dash out of the overview transforming it in a dock for an easier launching of applications and a faster switching between windows and desktops.

vertical-overview - Gnome has had vertically stacked workspaces for a long time. The Gnome 40 update unfortunately made the switch to a horizontal layout. A choice that many Gnome users disagree with. This extension completely replaces the new Gnome overview with something that resembles the old style.
gnome-shell-extension-appindicator - Adds KStatusNotifierItem support to the Shell
