Understanding GRUB configuration in NixOS...
Here's an example of a more complex grub configuration for Nix: https://github.com/vinceliuice/grub2-themes/blob/master/flake.nix

What are some cool things I can do with Linux that you can't with windows?
For grub theming, I used this (and then added some customisation of my own). And I used this to preview it.

Atomic: where to put Grub themes??
I am using the grub2-themes from Vince Liuice, which are really great.

Can't use a grub themes.
I am trying to rice my pc and that includes the grub, i was trying to get the catpuccin theme for grub on my system (https://github.com/catppuccin/grub) i followed the steps on the page with no luck. I thought there was a fault with the theme so i tried installing Tela (https://github.com/vinceliuice/grub2-themes) but i had no luck with this. It always boots with the default grub theme. So does anyone know if this is an issue with Nobara or just me being dumb?

How can i make the boot interface prettier?
You can download some grub2 themes from: https://github.com/vinceliuice/grub2-themes and check out some pre-made themes. I tested out on on a Fedora VM.

Stuck on startup menu after installing grub2 theme!
So I installed this grub2 theme and now I'm stuck on startup menu! I can't boot into my grub and my system!!

How can I change grub theme from the configuration.nix file?
I remember finding someone demonstrating how to customize grub, I just adapted it for my case (Legacy) and it worked, it's in my dotfiles. In the worst case, the screen just goes black and enters the first option after seconds. I'm using a fork that contains the NixOs icon that I put myself, but it's not so good.

Nix: The Breaking Point
I don't think so. The article is probably intended for the Nix community, so the author doesn't need to convince HN that something is going on. If as an outsider you are interested then you need to look into it yourself, the community has no obligation to make their internal conflicts legible to the outside world.
As an outsider myself, it certainly looks like something is going on as more than 20 Nixpkg maintainers left in a week: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues?q=label%3A%228.has%3...

NixOS Is Not Reproducible
Yes, Nix doesn't actually ensure that the builds are deterministic. In fact it works just fine if they aren't. There are packages in nixpkgs that aren't reproducible: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aiss...

The xz attack shell script
I'm not familiar with Bazel, but Nix in it's current form wouldn't have solved this attack. First of all, the standard mkDerivation function calls the same configure; make; make install process that made this attack possible. Nixpkgs regularly pulls in external resources (fetchUrl and friends) that are equally vulnerable to a poisoned release tarball. Checkout the comment on the current xz entry in nixpkgs https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/blob/master/pkgs/tools/comp...

Debian Git Monorepo
NixOS uses a monorepo and I think everyone's love it.
I love being able to easily grep through all the packages source code and there's regularly PRs that harmonizes conventions across many packages.
Nixpkgs doesn't include the packaged software source code, so it's a lot more practical than what Debian is doing.
