Git is my buddy: Effective Git as a solo developer
I think it very much depends how you use them. A great option to manage submodules is TwoSigma's "git-meta" https://github.com/twosigma/git-meta.
There's also just "meta" which is a cleaner way to approach the functionality of submodules https://github.com/mateodelnorte/meta.

Problem with Repository Design Pattern
This is an event sourcing library in Typescript that also relies on the repository pattern: https://github.com/cloudnativeentrepreneur/sourced. Using the same models you could use a server side repo, such as https://github.com/CloudNativeEntrepreneur/sourced-repo-typeorm to persist to sql dbs, or the mongo repo implementation: https://github.com/mateodelnorte/sourced-repo-mongo, or even use localstorage if you were working in a browser: https://github.com/CloudNativeEntrepreneur/sourced-repo-svelte-local-storage-store all without changing the model the repository serves.
What are some alternatives?
meta - tool for turning many repos into a meta repo. why choose many repos or a monolithic repo, when you can have both with a meta repo?
mongo-event-sourcing - An open-source fully configurable and extendible tool that enables event sourcing in MongoDB.
lerna - :dragon: Lerna is a fast, modern build system for managing and publishing multiple JavaScript/TypeScript packages from the same repository.
sourced-repo-typeorm - A sourced repo that uses TypeORM to persist events. This allows for passing different connection options, and thus, allows for different databases for the persistence layers.
fast-repo - Perform quick actions on one or many repositories ๐ ๐
sourced-repo-svelte-local-storage-store - Build event sourced svelte applications and use localstorage backed svelte stores for persistence.
scalar - Scalar: A set of tools and extensions for Git to allow very large monorepos to run on Git without a virtualization layer
Voxlap - Making Ken Silverman's "Voxlap" voxel graphics engine run on any platform with SDL.
diff2html - Pretty diff to html javascript library (diff2html)
flow-bot - A bot to sync a public repo which is a folder in a (mono)repo.
EdenSCM - A Scalable, User-Friendly Source Control System. [Moved to: https://github.com/facebook/sapling]
