git-credential-manager VS keys

You can still use HTTPS, just not username/password as authentication. Personally, I think using HTTPS Git Credential Manager is simpler than SSH, as GCM allows you to use GitHub OAuth in your browser to sign in.

Hi, use git Credential Manager https://github.com/git-ecosystem/git-credential-manager been using it with Github and Azure Repo. Make sure that you update your machine global git config to use it.

Download Git for Windows and choose Git Credential Manager (GCM) as credential helper on the installation steps.

When working with external Git repositories it is best practice to use multi-factor HTTPS authentication. It is best to leave the default option by using the built in Git Credential Manager.

(We haven't started using Git Credential Manager Core yet and I haven't done any research into it, so I don't know if it'll throw a wrench in things.)

Finally, now you need to go to the GitHub settings page and add the key you just copied. here a shortcut for you to go directly to the GitHub SSH keys settings page: SSH Keys Settings Page

and add it to your GitHub SSH keys.

Visit https://github.com/settings/keys, logging in with your GitHub username and password as usual. Don’t use the passphrase you just created, if any.

Add GPG key (public key) to the SSH and GPG settings page, which will link it to your account.

Easiest is to just delete the SSH key in https://github.com/settings/keys

This string [email protected]:907th/vim-auto-save.git tells Git to clone over SSH. In order for this to work, you need to first set up an SSH key pair and upload the public part of it to GitHub, at https://github.com/settings/keys.

I've tried looking for a solution to your problem. When you enter on this page: https://github.com/settings/keys, is there a SSH key registered?

Go to SSH and GPG keys on github or Add new GPG key on github

Now navigate to your GitHub settings. Click add New SSH key. Make sure you select Signing key. And paste in the contents of the public key file.
