I finally wrote my first ever emulator (GameBoy)
https://github.com/khedoros/ghostlines Much more recent, still in-progress (scrolling is a big TODO, and no audio yet). Golang instead of C++.

I finally wrote my first ever emulator (GameBoy)
https://github.com/khedoros/khednes Don't take that as an example of anything...Initial code was written around 2007, most of the core development around 2010 and 2012, spottily updated since then, and it really ended up being more about experimentation than writing a good emulator (or good c++, for that matter). Some examples: there's a pretty janky detection of idle loops in the CPU, tile caching in the PPU, and the idea of compositing the screen together line-by-line, in an attempt to allow mid-screen scrolling.
What are some alternatives?
