The day KDE implements Windows 10 touchpad gestures will be the last day for my Windows partition
I can only agree about the obsession the developers seem to have about workspace gestures. However, my solution was installing the Gestures app combined with xdotool (or ydotool if on Wayland). Now I can configure whatever combination of touchpad gestures I want.

Any way to use KDE Plasma 5.25 Gestures on X11?
Gestures is another alternative. Been using it for the past two years, works great and is very easy to configure.

Is there a way to change the trackpad gesture for the overview effect to a different one?
I have previously configured gestures using https://gitlab.com/cunidev/gestures.

Is it possible to map keystrokes to 3-finger swipe gestures (for example alt+left for backswiping) on a touchpad in Manjaro?
I've tried touche and gestures but neither of these two seems to work. For example, I mapped the following syntax in gestures: "xdotool key alt+left" (or alt_l+left) to be able to backswipe in Google Chrome but nothing happens. The same goes for touche. I would appreciate your help.

How to install Ubuntu gestures
To install guestures for ubuntu e.g 3-finger scroll You can follow on the link module below https://www.thefanclub.co.za/how-to/ubuntu-touchpad-gestures-install Or you can manually install the modules from their repositories https://github.com/bulletmark/libinput-gestures Then install this https://gitlab.com/cunidev/gestures Afterwards just reboot your system for the effects to take effect

This week in KDE: Stable desktop icons and even better gestures
Can someone give the command for the above effect so I can configure it via gestures?

Cant install extended gestures, fedora 35, gnome 41, Wayland
I found the Gesture flatpack, but it just says "unsupported on Wayland session" to my costume gestures. Probably because the gesture is already taken. Is there a way to disable the wayland gesture, so it instead uses my custom gesture?

(DWM) Can I Bind a Keybinding to Another Key?
I haven't tried, but the key codes here looks like they might be of use: https://gitlab.com/cunidev/gestures/-/wikis/xdotool-list-of-key-codes

My MacBook setup (the 2024 version)
It exists! Check out [yabai](https://github.com/koekeishiya/yabai), which is nicely paired with [skhd](https://github.com/koekeishiya/skhd).

Ask HN: Best Hacks for a Ultrawide Monitor?
I have a 49 inch CRG9 and the best recommendation for window management is Yabai (https://github.com/koekeishiya/yabai) along with skhd (https://github.com/koekeishiya/skhd). Yabai is a greedy window management solution that tries to fit opened applications in given space and skhd let's you easily jump between those using keyboard shortcuts. This has massively improved my ultrawide experience.
Only disclaimer is, configuring yabai has a slight learning curve.

Is there an app that does this Windows feature?

Yabai – A tiling window manager for macOS
Here it is. There is no visualization of the stack, which apparently Stackline in the other comment supports, but I don't tend to need that. Just being able to move between the windows is good enough for me.

Asahi Linux folks are doing us a solid with WPA3 fixes
I use Yabai on my Macs without SIP enabled. Here’s a list of the features that absolutely require SIP to be disabled: https://github.com/koekeishiya/yabai/issues/1863
But you don’t need to disable SIP just for tiling.
> there's still a ton of tinkering and tweaking you need to do to get Yabai really working correctly
This is pretty much true of basically every tiling window manager on Linux, too.
For me, using Nix-Darwin for MacOS and NixOS has drastically simplified my tiling window manager setup after initially doing the work to figure out my ideal config.

macOS Containers v0.0.1
SIP is a feature that protects you from malicious actors with root (admin) access on your device. After they've encrypted your photos and drives and changed your passwords, it prevents them from making your machine unbootable by deleting or altering system binaries. As a side effect of this protection, you give up certain freedoms to customize your system.
https://github.com/koekeishiya/yabai
For instance requires SIP to be disabled.

Ask HN: Why does Apple refuse to add window snapping to macOS?
This is disproven by the fact that Yabai [1] can instantly swap spaces with SIP disabled.

[Serious] I don't get why people like Mac and I feel like I'm missing out

ToucheggKDE - TouchEgg configuration for MacOS and Windows like Touchpad Multi-Touch Gestures on KDE Plasma.
Karabiner-Elements - Karabiner-Elements is a powerful utility for keyboard customization on macOS Sierra (10.12) or later.
touche - The desktop application to configure Touchégg
alt-tab-macos - Windows alt-tab on macOS
libinput-gestures - Actions gestures on your touchpad using libinput
