Swiss and SD2SP2 Questions
Your first option with PicoBoot's original iplboot-based firmware is to rename the default ipl.dol to something like a.dol, so Swiss will only be loaded when you hold down the corresponding button. In that case if you don't hold down a button your GC will load the disc as if your console is unmodded, complete with the startup animation, but if you hold A it'll skip the intro and go directly to Swiss.

Update: PicoBoot succes!
https://github.com/redolution/iplboot (runs on RPI, viper, qoob modchips)

looking for information on Action Replay
Instead of using Swiss, you could instead put Brosexec or iplboot on the memory card. This would save you a lot of room on the memory card, as Swiss and the hacked save together take up nearly 130 blocks.

Icedcube or wait for new transparent shells?
I have one but since i run https://github.com/redolution/iplboot on my Qoob, i threw away all my burned disks
- FYI if you already have a Qoob Pro, Qoob Sx, or Viper you can get the exact same firmware as picoboot uses. also a very similar firmware is available for XenoGC

Boot Swiss from SD2SP2?
Yeah, PicoBoot is just a nifty way of making iplboot the first program that runs on the GC. Using iplboot this way is similar to the older Dolaunch loader, however that doesn't support the SD2SP2.
