Best 1.16 (or 1.17) hack client for cpvp?
Yeah but you gotta build it: https://github.com/IUDevman/gamesense-fabric

Detailed overview of common or not-so-common hacked clients/utility mods/mods for Specterium
Gamesense Client: Gamesense was originally a 1.12.2 forge pvp client, but due to abandonment from the dev, it has stagnated in updates, but is still widely used. Since it's abandonment, the author has created a new open source 1.16.5 fabric version, that is a little buggy, but works mostly okay. It isn't anything super special, and it definitely isn't a client to use on its own, but the pvp modules are nice, and the features decent. Keep in mind though that there are currently no releases for the client since it's just that new, so you will have to build it from the code yourself. Even with this downside I'd always recommend giving it a shot. https://github.com/IUDevman/gamesense-fabric

Add the ability to add head pretrusions for your Minecraft skins in vanilla Minecraft
There is a mod that adds exactly that, and it's free. https://github.com/Blancworks/Figura

Texture/Resource Pack based Skins
Third thing: Compatibility for other skinning mods. Things like capes and deadmau5 ears should be able to be textured in HD. The primary support should be for OptiFine capes, but that can be extended to other mods once OptiFine support is complete. One mod I think should really get support is Figura.

Is there a mod that lets your java skin have more geometry like a bedrock skin?
There sure is! There’s a new client side mode called Figura. It works on vanilla servers. https://github.com/TheOneTrueZandra/Figura

Bee avatar I made using Figura
The mod can be found here: https://github.com/TheOneTrueZandra/Figura
- How do I learn how to create custom avatars with this?

This mod I made has some incredible potential for being hellishly cursed (though this example isn't). Any takers?

Tried making a test skin. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. The files are saving in the figura folder.
currently, you have to attach stuff to model parts https://github.com/TheOneTrueZandra/Figura/wiki/Blockbench-Keywords

I created a minecraft mod that allows you to (extensively) customize your avatar. (More info in comments)
Lua scripts are optional. You can look over https://github.com/TheOneTrueZandra/Figura/wiki/Creating-a-basic-avatar#viewing
