Question: Online DnD
If you're ready to spend money, though, I'd suggest Foundry. I recommend Foundry for these reasons:
-
[Online][5E][Other][Sunday][UTC+0][One-Shot] Blood Will Run on December 10th
Salutations, lost souls. What's happening: On the 10th of December, at 11:00 UTC+0, I'll be running a simple one-shot to test run the Advanced 5th Edition system by Level Up, using Foundry. It is essentially a fully rewritten, rebalanced version of the regular DnD 5e system, with more character customization. You can check out their website here.

"cannot reach foundryvtt.com at this time"
At first, I thought I had messed something up in my install, so I made a fresh image and loaded it up. This time, in addition to my update page firing that error, my news feeds on my setup home were also delivering an error saying they couldn't reach the foundryvtt.com web server.

[PF2E][FoundryVTT][Saturday][CST-12:30PM][PAID] -|- Experienced GM seeking both new and experienced players! Explore a personalized fantasy world that is slowly changing as the Planes Converge! -|- [3-week trial period at (5$) per session. After that it's just (10$)!][2/5 slots open]
Well of course there is the aforementioned session zero will be the first order on the docket. Our starting point will be the Pathfinder 2E's Beginner Box. I find the Beginner Box to be a genuinely good way to introduce players to both PF2E and FoundryVTT so im gonna use it as a sorta jumping off point for the homebrew. (it also gives me time to work on the homebrew content since it will be customized to your group specifically)

I updated to v 11.304 and now foundry will not launch.
Fix here.
-
[OC][Art] Valkrana, the awkward infomonger necro I've been playing for nearly 300 sessions.
For the character sheet, I took screenshots of the sheet from our current campaign and just slapped them all into one big image. We're playing in the Foundry Virtual Tabletop software with the Tidy5e and Inventory+ modules. I think those are the main ones affecting the appearance and layout of the character sheet. FoundryVTT definitely takes some setup out of the gate, but the modules allow for so much freedom and so many quality of life improvements.

Having trouble going more than 4 folders deep in 11.304. Anyone else experiencing this as well?
4 is the core maximum folder depth in v11, up from 3 in previous versions (specific closed issue stating this, which is referenced in the v11.293 release notes). If you've ever been able to go deeper, it's do to module use and will continue to only be available via modules (which do carry some risks).

My Forge server is suddenly much slower
It's a FoundryVTT v11 bug: https://github.com/foundryvtt/foundryvtt/issues/9652 Would have hurt you equally literally anywhere.

Any DnD-esque games that can be played online for free?
I would suggest looking into a virtual tabletop system like Foundry. These can be setup to give a video-game-like experience. Foundry especially has functionality to lock down player access to just what they need, which I imagine would be useful in a teaching environment. You could theoretically set up a campaign in Foundry, get it just right, then lock it down and clone it again and again for each different set of students or class you teach.

UX Case Study: Markdown Heading
The closest editor that follows our first principle is Obsidian editor:
-
I switched from Notion to Obsidian
The solution was already installed on both my computer and my phone: Obsidian.

Why single vendor is the new proprietary
> why does open source need to "win"
Open source does not need to win.
But your ability to be in control of your computer needs to be preserved. A proprietary fridge cannot control your diet, while a proprietary App Store can control what software you install on YOUR phone (unless you live in EU, hello DMA!). The tail wags the dog, so to speak. Proprietary software has also been shown to break user workflows or remove functions in an update while leaving users with no choice whatsoever.
One alternative to having open source win is to ensure software must come with a robust warranty and other assurances you expect from the things you buy. EU's CRA will make software vulnerabilities in WiFi routers covered by warranty, for example.
You can also ensure robust and interoperable data storage options. For example, https://obsidian.md/ stores all notes in Markdown, not holding the data hostage in case users will not like how future versions will work. GDPR actually has a provision for data portability (Art. 20), but it does not seem to have a requisite effect on the industry yet.
And until the above issues are solved, open source remains the best way to ensure that a software tail cannot wag your computer dog.

Replatforming from Gatsby to Zola!
So I've had my fair share of personal websites and blogs. I have built them on stacks ranging from the most basic HTML and CSS, to hosted frameworks like Wordpress and Laravel, to the more modern single page applications built in Vue and React. For a simple content blog I think you can't go wrong with a Static Site Generator though. These days I am almost exclusively writing everything in Obsidian. Which is great because its all in standard markdown format. This allows for a really neat and easy content publishing workflow.

Setting Up Obsidian for Content Planning and Project Management
Obsidian is a writing application created to allow for offline / private note taking in markdown format, in an interface that looks a lot like our regular programming IDE. It is very flexible, with a good collection of community plugins that you can use to customize Obsidian to your heart contents.

Where Is Noether's Principle in Machine Learning?
Thank you!
In the beginning, I used kognise'z water.css [1], so most of the smart decisions (background/text color, margins, line spacing I think) probably come from there. Since then it's been some amount of little adjustments. The font is by Jean François Porchez, called Le Monde Livre Classic [2].
I draft in Obsidian [3] and build the site with a couple python scripts and KaTeX.
