GM screen module no longer works
Not sure what is going on. I downloaded this file https://github.com/ElfFriend-DnD/foundryvtt-gmScreen/files/10094884/gm-screen-final-pre-release.zip unzipped, restarted and enabled. Did you check the permission on the folder you moved to $foundry_data/Data/Modules and make sure the foundry instance can read it?

Will GMScreen be updated to version 10?
It's a great module but I don't think it will be updated. See this: https://github.com/ElfFriend-DnD/foundryvtt-gmScreen/issues/130

Anyone interested in picking up GM Screen module for V10 development?
For anyone interested, here's the project status statement saying that there is unlikely to be a v10 version of the module: https://github.com/ElfFriend-DnD/foundryvtt-gmScreen/issues/130. Of note is that part of the reason for the module being deprecated is that the APIs it uses changed drastically, so taking over maintainership would be less of an update and more of a rewrite.

Player Notes Module?
Bonus: Using the module GM Screen, you can add this journal entry into a pop-up screen that players have access to. It makes it much quicker to use than having to open and close a journal entry multiple times.

Secret Block
GM Notes has done well for me. Lets you add a little pinned text box to any object that only the GM can see (button for it's up at the top of the relevant object window)

GM secret block?

Roll20 like GM Notes
The GM Notes module adds a special notes section to actors, items and more. It doesn't pop them out automatically though. You still need to go into the actor's sheet.

Is there a way to hide part of an item description?
I use the GM notes module (https://github.com/syl3r86/gm-notes). It adds a new tab to all entities like actors, journal entries, items and so on where the GM can write notes which are visible only to himself
