Hello! This is a question about C but I was wondering as to how I could let the user (in the terminal) input a command with my tool like -delete or -rename and then activate a certain part of the code to rename, delete, create etc
If you really want to have -delete like option you'll have to write your own argument parser or use a library that already does this (e.g flag.h, note that this is an stb style library ).

What are different options for CLI besides getopt and getopt_long?
Is C++, but docopt is great for CLI arguments. docopt is available in other language as well, e.g. python. The nice thing about docopt is that the command line arguments/syntax is automagically derived from your 'help' string.

What are some alternatives?
docopt - This project is no longer maintained. Please see https://github.com/jazzband/docopt-ng
Boost.Program_options - Boost.org program_options module
arg.h - 20h's arg.h
jarro2783/cxxopts - Lightweight C++ command line option parser
args - A simple header-only C++ argument parser library. Supposed to be flexible and powerful, and attempts to be compatible with the functionality of the Python standard argparse library (though not necessarily the API).
Ncurses - ncurses Git mirror
termbox - Library for writing text-based user interfaces
gflags - The gflags package contains a C++ library that implements commandline flags processing. It includes built-in support for standard types such as string and the ability to define flags in the source file in which they are used. Online documentation available at:
CLI11 - CLI11 is a command line parser for C++11 and beyond that provides a rich feature set with a simple and intuitive interface.
conan - Conan - The open-source C and C++ package manager
clipp - easy to use, powerful & expressive command line argument parsing for modern C++ / single header / usage & doc generation
Argh! - Argh! A minimalist argument handler.
