    Yeah, I know the pain... my favourite font of all time is fixedsys Excelsior, it has thicker vertical lines than horizontal lines, but it is bitmap so it does not work on higher res screens. I could never find a monospace font with the same property... and god, I tried for days. I know nothing about fonts, yet out of desperation, I even tried to make my own font (crazy for someone who has no idea how to make one or how to do vector properly) , Fixedsys Modern, and it is an improvement, but all the little things about hinting and stuff, things beyond my understanding, make it work only in 90% of cases, I could never get it to look just right. I still silently hope someone who knows what they are doing remakes that font.
