Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Fish Shell
I think fish's syntax is cleaner, though as others have pointed out, the incompatibility is often not worth it.
Even though it's "sane", I would say it's not "powerful". It's significantly less powerful than bash:

Help With Colored Transient Prompt
It doesn't. Not really. It has an awkward set of words and regexes that it uses to highlight fish. A while back they reused the bash definitions, it seems now they've switched to sublime's fish syntax. The TODOs there should tell you some of the limitations.
