    There's nothing like that built-in like it is in most Linux distros (probably since it's seldom needed like /u/xCharg mentions), but the same exact command does have Windows builds available, eg. this one: https://github.com/julian-r/file-windows/releases

    As far as I know there is nothing built into Windows for this. If you have WSL installed you can use the file command to get the true file type (or at least the best guess). If WSL is not installed try downloading this https://github.com/julian-r/file-windows/releases and run file.exe from it.
