M2 really slow using ffmpeg compared to M1 Max
must be thermal throttling if you’re encoding x265 you can maybe squeeze more performance using this script to build ffmpeg from source https://github.com/Vargol/ffmpeg-apple-arm64-build

Can't compile x265 for arm64 (Apple Silicon) with NEON
And when I say its my script the original script is from https://gitlab.com/martinr92/ffmpeg/-/tree/master I've just changed what was necessary for the NEON code and other bits and pieces I wanted to play with.
