Typing on Japanese in i3wm
You may run into some issues with you locale settings being screwed up by fcitx since, I suppose, you are probably using a russian locale. So you might want to check out this issue. https://github.com/fcitx/fcitx/issues/454 Now, for the fcitx installation. It is not intuitive and you should probably check out some step-by-step tutorials on youtube.

I think Ubuntu is shipping an earlier version of it that predates the commit that I believe might have introduced the bug. Since you're compiling from the AUR, anyway, maybe you can try patching it yourself and change EscapeXmlValue(engine.symbol()) back to engine.symbol().
