Automate JBoss Web Server 6 deployment with the Red Hat Ansible Certified Content Collection for JWS
Retrieve the archive containing the JBoss Web Server from the Red Hat Customer Portal and install the files on the system. Configure the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating system including the users, groups, and the required setup files to enable JBoss Web Server as a systemd service. Ensure the required Java Virtual Machine is installed Fine-tune the configuration of the JBoss Web Server server, such as binding it to the appropriate interface and port. Deploy web applications along with enabling and starting the JBoss Web Server as a [systemd](https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/) service. Perform a health check to ensure that the deployed application is accessible.

Android Studio on Devuan 4: Install
Devuan GNU+Linux is a fork of Debian without systemd and hence Snaps (Snapd). Even on it, it's easy to install Android Studio and start to develop Android mobile apps.

And thus, we will soon see rc-local.service disappear from systemd
[root@rocky-8-lxc ~]# rpm -qf /etc/rc.d/rc.local systemd-239-68.el8_7.4.x86_64 [root@rocky-8-lxc ~]# rpm -qi systemd Name : systemd Version : 239 Release : 68.el8_7.4 Architecture: x86_64 Install Date: Fri 07 Apr 2023 02:11:42 AM UTC Group : Unspecified Size : 11306123 License : LGPLv2+ and MIT and GPLv2+ Signature : RSA/SHA256, Tue 21 Feb 2023 05:04:34 PM UTC, Key ID 15af5dac6d745a60 Source RPM : systemd-239-68.el8_7.4.src.rpm Build Date : Tue 21 Feb 2023 04:52:49 PM UTC Build Host : ord1-prod-x86build004.svc.aws.rockylinux.org Relocations : (not relocatable) Packager : [email protected] Vendor : Rocky URL : http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd Summary : System and Service Manager Description : systemd is a system and service manager that runs as PID 1 and starts the rest of the system. It provides aggressive parallelization capabilities, uses socket and D-Bus activation for starting services, offers on-demand starting of daemons, keeps track of processes using Linux control groups, maintains mount and automount points, and implements an elaborate transactional dependency-based service control logic. systemd supports SysV and LSB init scripts and works as a replacement for sysvinit. Other parts of this package are a logging daemon, utilities to control basic system configuration like the hostname, date, locale, maintain a list of logged-in users, system accounts, runtime directories and settings, and daemons to manage simple network configuration, network time synchronization, log forwarding, and name resolution.

Sandboxing All the Things with Flatpak and BubbleBox
bubblewrap is designed as a low-level too. There is nothing quick and dirty about it. It disallows everything by default and you have to be explicit about what you want to share with the host. If your application needs complex permissions/resources, then you will need to have a complex bubblewrap command line.
Once you have figured out which permissions/resources you need for a given program, you can wrap the command line invocation in a shell script.
If you want other people to do the work of defining permissions/resources, then have a look at firejail: https://github.com/netblue30/firejail

Ask HN: What are some unpopular technologies you wish people knew more about?
Firejail is cool: https://github.com/netblue30/firejail
Linux namespaces/cgroups but nowhere near as heavy as Docker.
I use it when I want to limit the memory of a Python script:

Toolship: A (More) Secure Workstation
Firejail can also be a useful option, though no good if you're on Mac https://firejail.wordpress.com/
Uses the same Linux primitives as docker etc, but can be a bit more ergonomic for this use case

Firejail: Light, featureful and zero-dependency security sandbox for Linux
Firejail, Flatpak (which uses Bubblewrap under the hood), and Snap (which uses AppArmor) all use the same underlying technology: Linux namespaces.
This question comes up a lot, and has been answered here: https://github.com/netblue30/firejail/wiki/Frequently-Asked-...
TL;DR: Firejail has much more comprehensive features than Flatpak (Bubblewrap). Firejail also has more comprehensive network support, support for AppArmor and SELinux, and easier seccomp filtering.
Compared to Snap (which uses AppArmor), Firejail is compatible with AppArmor and again goes above and beyond with a lot of additional features.

Bubblewrap – Low-level unprivileged sandboxing tool used by Flatpak
Wonderful little tool, too bad you must chain various exec calling tools to get cgroups (a bit akin to `ionice ... nice ... cmd`) and Linux users namespaces can't allow UNIX sockets while preventing network access (I think?).
Migrated from Firejail when its complexity annoyed me too much and I hit https://github.com/netblue30/firejail/issues/3001 (Firejail doesn't like parens or brackets in --put/--get parameters) to a badly NIH version using bwrap and bash to have "profiles":

Do, or do not. There is no try
Firejail does this. The profile database is the two "profile" directories in https://github.com/netblue30/firejail/tree/master/etc
