Using the tool: extract-xiso

Help understanding XISO
Download Extract-Xiso , the download option will be on the right side of the screen under “stable release” and extract it somewhere (same folder as your Xbox roms is recommended).
- original xbox not working, I've downloaded xemu and far as I know the site used to download Roms downloads them in x.iso files and when I go to play the below image is shown what can I do
-
Xbox Original
You can download it from the megathread and use extract-xiso to convertit (extract-xiso -r game.iso).

Having problems extracting isos
I use extract-xiso: https://github.com/XboxDev/extract-xiso

I tested a bunch of Xemu (og xbox) games on Steam Deck so you don't have to
"Mod only" requires you to hexedit your games. This page has a list of hex codes to search for and then the string that you'll replace them with. To perform this, you'll need to extract the iso into a game folder, and then you'll edit the default.xbe file in the root folder. I used extract-xiso and extract-xiso-gui to do this. Drag and drop your iso onto the extract-xiso exe. One you've done your hexedits (I recommend HxD), then you can use the gui to click "create iso" and then select a folder. You can actually do all of this with just extract-xiso, but I was lazy and didn't feel like punching in dos commands to rebuild all my isos.

Trimming XISO
No need to unpack and repack. https://github.com/XboxDev/extract-xiso Then run it like this in a command prompt extract-xiso.exe -r "Your Redump ISO.iso" This will rename the redump you pass in to Your Redump ISO.iso.old and a new Your Redump ISO.iso will be made. This new file it made is your xiso. And you can do with the .iso.old file as you like. There are other tools like redump2xiso and of course repackanator. But I find extract-xiso produces the best trimmed results for just playing the damn games lol. With xbox games there are always caveats for caveats but I think trimmed xiso have the least amount of potential issues out of the dump methods I've seen and used so far. And the only one I do know about out side of split xisos can be solved by adding layout data to the xiso but I don't wanna ramble more then I already do. But yeah I agree, we should of all moved to xiso ages ago.

How does one split iso files that are larger than 4 gigs?
Please don't unpack them. ACL patching sucks, and can brake things like insignia. And just having just a bunch of files on your hdd isn't grate in the long run... Also yeah we need to figure out if they are xisos or redumps. (redumps are typically very large like 7.2GB and imo contain a lot of useless data we don't need if you want to just play games, redump is an archiving format, not a games format. xiso with layouts where needed imo is the best. And you should just be able to open a xiso with any normal iso program and see game data, if you open a redump all you will see is the dvd video files unless you have special tools. anyways) I don't wanna get to into the weeds but yeah for converting a redump to a xiso this is nice. https://github.com/Qubits01/redump2xiso It's not 100% perfect and some times you may have to rebuild it to be smaller with https://github.com/XboxDev/extract-xiso
