Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

A tool for making crosswords
Just FYI, Exet does a good job with this, and has lots of other functions useful for filling in the grid.

Just found the article "Pinpointing Letters" in Word Ways, which has cryptic-style phrases for all letters (e.g. 'can opener' for C). Might be useful for clue writers.
Exet has a boatload of resources including some great lists of indicators.

The next AOTW Grid…
None of it is computer “generated” per se, but I do use software – mostly Exet now – to assist in selecting/creating the grid and trying to ensure each entry has at least two options. I also keep track of all the previous grids’ letter combinations, to try avoiding repeats. That last part has become increasingly difficult, though, so I will probably have to limit how far I track back in future.
