Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

One of the earliest FAQs about proof of stake vitalik made in 2016 even talked about burning fees:

Someone withdrew my funds from my metamask wallet. Can someone explain what's going on here? Why are they all contract address's?
Ethereum website doesn't offer services like thia, by the way the correct Ethereum site is www.ethereum.org, not www.ethereum.com.

The flippening: what’s Loopring’s/L2 role? (ELI12 Long-read edition)
How is the gas-price calculated? It’s calculated in gwei, which you probably heard of. 1 gwei = 0.000000001 ETH. Every transaction to make on the ETH network cost a fixed amount of gwei + a variable amount of gwei. A bunch of transactions are packed into a block. These blocks have a size, depending on the amount of transactions that are packed into it. If the network activity goes up, so does the blocksize and so does the base fee and variable fees. This would mean: the more popular the Ethereum network becomes and people use it, the higher the blocks are to compute the transactions, the higher the base fees and variable fees become. The fees are calculated as a % of the value of Ethereum. So there is always a direct correlation between the gas fees and the price of Ethereum. On top, the fees are an essential part of keeping the network secure. You can also leave a tip, so a miner has an incentive to make your transaction happen before others, but I will leave that out of this story for now too. I will leave the update of the Ethereum network out of it too, but if you want to read more, there is a lot to read on www.ethereum.org. This is, for all you visual people, what a block looks like:

I just had a really interesting idea...
Have you heard of 0xBitcoin? It works exactly the way you described it.

A NFT called coinpass to be airdropped to all hodlers of 1000+ 0xBitcoin
0xbitcoin.org has a good explanation. "The Ethereum community's faithful implementation of 'Bitcoin' in a trustless, immutable Ethereum smart contract." It's a smart contract that issues Bitcoin-style PoW challenges and emits ERC20 rewards with all the same automatic difficulty adjustment and eras and so forth as Bitcoin.
-
Stablecoin Concept
Your first point is incorrect, a contract on Ethereum can, in theory, do almost anything. PoW mining is actually relatively simple, and there are already a few coins that do it. https://0xbitcoin.org/ is one. As for your second point, I see the point about electricity. Maybe I'd need to take that into account, or maybe I'll need to add additional incentives.

EGOD token scam warning and a free educational exercise
I initially wrote here that I wanted someone to figure out how to deploy a "better" EGOD token using the above concepts and 0xbitcoin's smart contract proof-of-concept, but realized that I was already this close and should just see it through. Long story short, I figured it out and the new EGOD token is now live (see here). I am currently the only miner and started only a few hours ago. Anyone else who wants to join me, you can use this github link for a 0xbitcoin CPU miner app. Just create a metamask wallet if you don't already have one, click the dropdown to switch from Ethereum Mainnet to Ropsten Test Network, click "Buy" and the "Test Ether" option to get free Ether (I got 5 myself), then plug in your test wallet details and the new contract address in the 0xbitcoin miner and start mining! There's a 21M supply cap (same as Bitcoin) and no need to bother with the GPU miner version, it's near instant to mine with CPU version.

Ethereum miners do you have any plans to stop mining or scale back rig construction because of implimintation of (EIP) 1559 in July? FOCUSED-DISCUSSION
https://0xbitcoin.org/ is the best place to start.

Testing 0xBitcoin
It should be pretty easy to set up the https://github.com/0xbitcoin/0xbitcoin-miner to mine this. You will need build-essential and python3 and Node8. But then just follow the Readme. You will also need an Infura web3provider key OR youlll need to run your own Kovan node locally so you can talk to the Kovan network.
