ema VS hakyll

You can baptize yourself by either moving a sufficiently complex Haskell codebase to Nix or building a website using something like Ema (with full Nix+Flakes support!)

Also, I'm willing to mentor anyone who is interested in improving Ema or Emanote.

Clarification: Emanote is a successor to Neuron, and written on top of Ema.

I maintain an extended version of Emanote in Haskell (as an Ema app) that does custom stuff like visualize my hledger transactions, track time, generate invoice and provide custom views of my Markdown notebook, like a Twitter-like timeline generated from H2 headings (with date) from across notes.

Others have mentioned static site generators. I like Hakyll [1] because it can tightly integrate with Pandoc [2] and allows you to develop custom solutions if your needs ever grow.

Honestly, I've had a great experience with Hakyll for static site generation. There's a bit of a learning curve to effectively use the library/framework, but in my opinion the learning curve is much lower than Yesod/Fay. If all you need is to build static website pages, I'd suggest Hakyll.

Of course there are other generators with internationalization but... This info is relevant because Hakyll application requires to be complied before it generates the pages, and the compilation process of Haskell is a pretty expensive (computationally saying). Although, the executable is incredible fast, due to great work made by the compiler. This processing cost will be discussed soon.

Btw there is a static page generator utilizing pandoc directly: hakyll[1]. Since it's configuration is done via haskell source code file, you need to be willing to learn a bit of haskell though.
