How can I change the theme?
Maybe your terminal doesn’t support italic text. Looks similar to this issue https://github.com/dracula/vim/issues/81.

Vim statusline disappears a split second after a startup
I've tried your config. I assume you're using https://github.com/rafalbromirski/vim-aurora for colorscheme . Statusline doesn't cause any issue in my machine with your config .
What are some alternatives?
