Building W-9 Crafter
I first started building the app in the browser, using PDF.js and Download.js to take a PDF and edit it, and then download it to your computer.

Hey Rustaceans! Got a question? Ask here (1/2023)!
In short, is there a way to do this with any decently mature wasm targeting frontend framework?

Ask HN: How to build online calculator website?
Here's my personal goto:
Find some minimal CSS framework. My preference is Skeleton [0] or Bootstrap [1]. The key is just finding something minimal that works without too much fuss. Personally, I rather have a minimal framework provide 'responsiveness' so I don't have to worry about it but I also want it to get out of the way of anything I do.
Use JQuery [2]. Don't rely on CSS for animations or interactivity. In theory CSS does a lot. In practice it's a nightmare to use and to get it play well with whatever else I'm doing in the page.
Write in "bare" HTML and "vanilla" JavaScript. Don't use a static site generator and don't use a JavaScript framework.
Port in JavaScript libraries as needed. Some of the ones I tend to use are numeric.js [3], downlaod.js [4] and audience-minutes [5]. If you're doing spreadsheet things, maybe there's some JS package out there that will help.
Doing "raw" HTML/"vanilla" JavaScript makes me effectively unhirable but for limited scope side projects where I have full control and want to minimize bit-rot, this is fine.
The point is to create something that's minimal and focuses on functionality. The CSS is just there to make it not look like a Web 1.0 page but otherwise steps out of the way to focus on the actual usage of the application.
For context, here are some projects where I've used this philosophy (all open source, feel free to pilfer): Noixer [6], Resonator Voyant Tarot [7], Boston Train Track (now defunct) [8], CalebHarrington.com (an artist friend) [9], What Is This License [10], HSV Hero [11].

Amino – The Public IPFS DHT Is Getting a Facelift
I don't mind pinning, but back in the day I was having issues using IPFS to transfer small files between devices. I admit I haven't investigated to see if the problems were ever resolved.
I've been watching https://github.com/ipfs/helia which is going to replace https://github.com/ipfs/js-ipfs and hoping they can get an IPFS node working in the browser.

IPFS as traffic spike deterrent
I haven't tried https://js.ipfs.tech/ (js-ipfs) in a while, what is the state of it?
-
Activity Pub vs. Web Frameworks
On the topic of IPFS, but also slightly tangential -- how has nobody written an Activity Pub client/server in Javascript and distributed it as a Browser Addon?
If IPFS can be literally hosted via a Firefox Extension[1], how has nobody done the same for an arguably easier protocol like Activity Pub?

Opinion about an application built using IPFS
If you can load them up in js-ipfs that might be better?

How to store your app's entire state in the url
Store the content in ipfs and just put the hash in the URL? I haven't used https://github.com/ipfs/js-ipfs in this capacity but I'm under the impression that that's what it's supposed to do.

I wish I could "seed" a server like a torrent, has there been any work to make this possible?

Paying with Node.js
You need an import statement instead of require since Node has upgraded to the new module system. Use import * as IPFS from 'ipfs-core'. Read more here: https://github.com/ipfs/js-ipfs

Generating a CID on the frontend, and then passing the files to the backend to be pinned.
Please take a look at https://github.com/ipfs/js-ipfs/blob/master/docs/core-api/FILES.md for more understanding

Public CDNs Are Useless and Dangerous
You could include js-ipfs[0] and fetch all your resources from IPFS without going through a gateway. However, this approach would make the site fully dependent on JavaScript.
A PWA with a Service Worker could perhaps implement its own client-side "gateway", translating public gateway URLs into direct IPFS access. Without the Service Worker (or without JS) it would fall back to using the gateway.

IPFS-GATEWAY.CLOUD IPFS GATEWAY for Decentralized Internet
Of course,You can try it out. You can create some Hash to IPFS from this link Adding data to IPFS https://js.ipfs.io/ and then browse the hash in https://ipfs-gateway.cloud/ It is directly connected to IPFS Node.
What are some alternatives?
