Glad you got it figured out! There's a fix script in progress (https://github.com/DFHack/scripts/pull/635) that essentially does exactly what you did, just automatically. Hopefully we'll be able to get it into a future version of DFHack so this issue doesn't affect other players too!

ELI5 what is chaos theory, and what is it used for?
