If you are referring solely to fully-validating node implementation, then, yes, dcrd is currently the only fully-validating node implementation.

DCR breaking through All Time High price (USD)
Looking at your skillset, one idea is to start getting familiar with Decred by running a full node. Or even run a vspd instance to help the network and earn you some atoms in the process. Other ideas I have written up earlier is to package and publish Decred software in popular repositories, or look into status monitoring of network's health. There's really a lot to be built once you start seeing it.
