Issues with :hover, visibility and clicks in Cypress
I have used this great cypress-real-events package before and it seems to have helped this time as well. This library adds a "realHover()" event that works with CSS.

Automated Accessibility Testing
The way Cypress is built does not allow simulating ârealâ user actions out of the box. All of the actions there are triggered via JavaScript. Usually, this is not a problem; however, in terms of keyboard navigation, it is â we wonât be able to use a âTabâ key, which is necessary to simulate how the user would navigate around. Luckily, the Cypress Real Events package comes in handy (or its alternatives, e.g. Cypress Plugin Tab). It uses the Chrome DevTools Protocol (so it only works in Chrome) in order to fire actual system events. Still, it has its downsides, though â you wonât be able to interact with certain system elements like default selects. If you were to determine that this is an important part of your app, other testing frameworks might be necessary.

Automated Accessibility Testing
One of the additional layers you can add to make sure you are building a good, accessible app, is to use âaccessible queriesâ for elements you interact with in the tests. In other words, you find elements by text, labels, roles, aria-attributes, etc., rather than using the IDs or data-test attributes. This applies to all layers of testing. There is a very useful project called Testing Library, which provides you with UI-centric queries out of the box. It has a separate package for many different testing methods and libraries, including the Cypress one: Cypress Testing Library.

Cypress.io flakiness making me crazy
Is it a react app? Could be dom churn on the CI? In which case you might take a look at this: potential fix in the CTL.

Cypress vs. Testing Library?
From doing some research it seems like most people use Testing Library for unit / integration testing and Cypress for E2E testing, but from reading the documentation of both it seems like you can use them for the same thing. There is also even a Cypress Testing Library to make things even more confusing. So what do you do? Use Testing Library for unit / integration testing and Cypress for E2E? Use Testing Library for everything? Use Cypress for everything? I'm just really curious what people think about this (and it seems like I'm not the only one.
What are some alternatives?
