Handy 5e Modules List
Foundry-VTT-Image-Hover - A module built on top of the Foundry Virtual Tabletop API that allows users to hover over actor tokens and see the character art. User must be on the token layer to see the character art, if no character art exists (default icon), token art is used instead. Image hover also supports animated file types that Foundry allows.

48 Useful V10-Compatible Modules [5e]
Image Hover - Allows you to see a token's full art when hovering over it. My personal setup is to have the image display on the top right of the screen after hovering the cursor over a token for 2 seconds.

Must Have Modules for Version V.10
Image Hover. Because players love seeing monster art.

I finally joined the hype train and picked up Foundry. Consider me converted!
Popout! is a great add-on that allows for one to pop things out (like character sheets) and make them a separate window so you can minimize it and keep it off the play screen. Another fun QoL one is Image Hover which allows one to put their cursor over a token/image and it enlarges it in the bottom right-corner. Fun to have if you want a closer look of the assets you use without having to zoom in.

How do I stop this popup from appearing whenever I over over a token?
As mentioned previously, it is a feature of the Pathfinder 1e system (which explains why disabling modules does not change the behavior). I don't use that system, but it looks like you can disable the behavior. If you like the idea but just don't want to have such a large image take over the screen, you could disable it in the System's settings, and intead use the module Hover Image which allows you to do the same thing but also choose how large the preview is, or to only have the preview when you also press a key while hovering. That's what I use.

FoundryVTT 0.8.6 RELEASE
This is really great! I can add some information for your compatibility list: Module image-hover is broken (core functionality not working), but easily fixable - see here: https://github.com/Eriku33/Foundry-VTT-Image-Hover/issues/13). Author seems unresponsive currently.
What are some alternatives?
