Then start building things from scratch. Plan three projects that are increasingly more difficult. I went with a web browser start page (list of my quick links i need when I open a new tab, added a to-do list for good measure). Then you definitely need something that leverages an API, I used github to make a search page for users and repos. Pretty simple, but a good time to make sure everything is super polished. Loading data, rendering content based on data, etc. Then you will want a capstone project that will typically be some sort of full stack app (frontend, backend, and a database.) This was mine, which I completed exactly four months after starting learning to code, so pardon the noobishness. It got mixed reviews, but a lot of interviewers liked the personality, usually the ones who were actually developers at the company.
