cp-demo VS examples

I happen to be working on an update for CP Demo that uses cluster and schema linking. Check it out on this branch — https://github.com/confluentinc/cp-demo/blob/cluster-linking/docs/hybrid-cloud.rst

My team and I are using Confluent's demo app (https://github.com/confluentinc/cp-demo) with the 'jmxexporter-prometheus-grafana' monitoring stack and are trying to connect to establish a connection with the broker via bootstrap server. There is a 'backdoor' port without security limitations that we thought we'd be able to connect to, but we aren't able to set up the connection using KafkaJS in Node. We are able to establish connections with other clusters, so we know we're missing something with the demo.

If you need a full system running or are looking for a working example — https://github.com/confluentinc/cp-demo is a pretty good starting point. You can use that as a reference or run it as is.

Spend some time on https://developer.confluent.io , especially https://developer.confluent.io/get-started/java/ and look at https://github.com/confluentinc/examples . Those will give really practical examples for how to set up your configs and start consuming

Digging into this a bit, I guess the fastest way would be to use librdkafka via Dart FFI. It's what Confluent uses in their Node.js example. That way you only have to worry about the FFI parts.
