ideas for a course project?
Another idea is based on what I'm currently working on, so this is probably not of interest, but hey, who knows: I came up with a small file format that describes "terminal images", meaning ASCII/ANSI art. You could write a small program that can display such files. Or that can display the meta information of those files. Or that can display palettes. Or that can edit these files.
What are some alternatives?
fortune - Quips I've assembled for fortune, cowsay, etc.
sc-im - sc-im - Spreadsheet Calculator Improvised -- An ncurses spreadsheet program for terminal
Old-Hangul-Input-Method - Javascript-based IME for typing archaic Korean Hangul letters (e.g. ㅸ, ㅿ, ㅵ) easily
libtexprintf - Library providing printf-style formatted output routines with tex-like syntax support.
cross-platform-terminal-characters - All the characters that work on most terminals
tt - Practicing touch typing, and monitor your typing speed using your own text files
out-of-character - remove invisible unicode characters
Image-to-ASCII - 🖼️ A cross-platform command-line tool for converting images to ASCII art
figures - Unicode symbols with fallbacks for older terminals
weird-json - the JS/Node.JS library for encoding complex and unconventional data structures. Support for BigInts, TypedArrays, null, undefined, and Symbol. Multiple flavors available. [Moved to: https://github.com/crisdosyago/WeirdJSON]
hyfetch - 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️ Neofetch with LGBTQ+ pride flags!
is_unicode_supported - 🖥️ Detect whether the terminal supports Unicode
