Also nano.to offers a pretty easy access to transfering xno and checking the balance without using a separate wallet software: https://docs.nano.to/guide/wallet-api Alternatively, Atto is a command-line wallet, that could also be used: https://github.com/codesoap/atto

Public nodes, decentralization, and MITM attacks
Just my 2 cents, as the author of the atto wallet: atto is completely stateless. You don't need to remember signatures. You can verify the signature with the public key, which is known.

Golang module for nano node RPC
If the other wallet only gives you a mnemonic, you would have to convert it into its hexadecimal form, before using it with atto. This has been discussed briefly at the GitHub Issue #3 before. You can use e.g. https://tools.nanos.cc/?tool=seed to do the conversion from mnemonic to hexadecimal seed (you may want to download the page and use it offline for extra security).

https://github.com/nanocurrency/rpc-go which seems VERY bare and very outdated https://github.com/hectorchu/gonano which seems more like a CLI tool than a general purpose library
