codemagic-sample-projects VS sidekick

codemagic.io is a CI/CD service which will build and optionally deploy your Flutter apps for you. You can integrate it with github and automate builds triggered by tags or pushes, etc. There's a generous free tier that I have not exceeded yet, because I mostly use it for final testing after getting a release candidate. They use M1 mac minis as their standard build devices (I think), but that's configurable too.

https://codemagic.io/ will put your app on the app store without a Mac, but you still have to sign up for the developer account yourself and pay $99.

When you want to deploy to iOS, either (1) borrow a friend's Mac for a few hours, or (2) use a service like https://codemagic.io/ that deploys to the iOS app store for you, for a small fee.

Monorepos are extremely helpful when working with larger codebases. But they also come with additional management costs. In this article, we will go through the process of managing a monorepo with a tool like Melos and set up our repository for CI/CD with Codemagic.

You could write your own bash script or CLI to help manage these tasks. However, this costs you some time. In order to deal with these tasks more quickly, you can use community tools, like Melos, Very Good CLI, or Sidekick. In this article, we are going to use Melos. Melos is also used by repositories like FlutterFire, AWS Amplify (Flutter), Flame, and Plus Plugins.
