Problem with running code
You should be able to use code_runner.nvim. I only say "should" because I've never tried to install it with vim-plug. Obviously, you shouldn't have any issue getting it ip and running. It has some default configurations for languages which will suit your use case just fine. You can specify how you want the code_runner window to open.

Run code / something like the VSCode F5
You can check this plugin out. I use it an like it a lot. Some people are currently having problems with it, but I think it's mainly people new to Neovim entirely. I've responded to a couple of issues to see if I could help out. Happy to help with setup if needed.
