install on 64 bit Raspberry pi OS?
SFTP into your pi and replace the audiosettings.sh from the RetroPie-Setup folder with the one from here to get audio: https://github.com/cmitu/RetroPie-Setup/tree/audio-ks

what Is a safe overclock for the pi 4 2Gb
I encountered less framedips with mvc2 by using the standalone version of flycast. It's a wip flycast.sh script from here: https://github.com/cmitu/RetroPie-Setup/tree/flycast-standalone

Why does everyone think Redream is better then Flycast?
I managed to find the standalone flycast that's faster than both. Here it is if anyone's interested. It's not finished. Games have to be loaded from within flycast. I had audio cutting out until I switched to sdl2 but I can't save the audio settings. https://github.com/cmitu/RetroPie-Setup/tree/flycast-standalone

Solutions for some common problems on Raspberry Pi
run a test version of 1.9.9 or 1.9.14 that definitely works
-
Is there any way to manually replace RetroArch with the most up to date version?
You can install 1.9.14 from this wip repo but it's unsupported. Unless you really need a feature then don't bother https://github.com/cmitu/RetroPie-Setup/tree/retroarch-1.9.14

How to downgrade retro arch
...oh, I see what they were getting at with the downloading the .diff files. That's coming from a different user's fork, so I guess you can't do it with a simple "git checkout" (I think? I'm still pretty new to git, myself). However, I am seeing four of them in the directory, not three. Are you looking at the version here?: https://github.com/cmitu/RetroPie-Setup/tree/7eb7e547e652c8519c4c3855318a7bff5580f3f7/scriptmodules/emulators/retroarch

I guess Saturn games run fast enough on a Pi 4?
lr-yabansashiro (libretro version): it's abandoned and some games have visual bugs where it's not worth playing like panzer dragoon. The retropie installer script is probably abandoned and only available here, so you'll need to transfer it to your retropie setup yourself. https://github.com/joolswills/RetroPie-Setup/tree/lr-yabasanshiro

How is Saturn support coming along?
No. Last time I checked, the retroarch port of yabasanshiro was abandoned. It's a bit faster than yabause but most importantly, it doesn't give you scratchy audio when the frame drops. I did notice bugs in panzer dragoon like the distance not being drawn. Here's the repo with the build script if you want to install it https://github.com/joolswills/RetroPie-Setup/tree/lr-yabasanshiro

Will a Retropie suit these needs? [PSP, PSX, Saturn, DC]
Go here https://github.com/joolswills/RetroPie-Setup/tree/lr-yabasanshiro, click on code, download zip, extract its contents, and ssh-ftp them to your pi at home/pi/RetroPie/scriptmodules/

What are the capabilities or limits of the Raspberry Pi 4 overclocked and in ideal conditions?
lr-yabasanshiro is slightly faster than lr-yabause but it's still a wip and has graphic bugs on some games. Use the install script from https://github.com/joolswills/RetroPie-Setup/tree/lr-yabasanshiro if you know how to.

Saturn Help
1) Download lr-yabasanshiro.sh and the folder lr-yabasanshiro from here:https://github.com/joolswills/RetroPie-Setup/tree/lr-yabasanshiro/scriptmodules/libretrocores, then copy them to /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/libretrocores/ 2) Locate your legally obtained Saturn bios file saturn_bios.bin to /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/yabasanshiro/ 3) Copy your legally obtained games to /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/saturn/ I have used both .cue/.iso and .cue/.bin (multiple .bin files in the case of Sega Rally). I have not tried .chd, but it might work. 4) In EmulationStation, go to Options, RetroPie Setup, Manage Packages, Manage Experimental Packages, lr-yabasanshiro then OK. Then Install (from source) and Ok. Wait while it compiles. 5) When the compilation has finished and you are back at Emulation Station, check that Parse Gamelists Only is Off in the ES Start Menu, Other Settings. Restart the Piboy. 6) You should find there's a new Saturn Menu In Emulation Station. When you start a game press a button to configure and change the default Saturn emulator to Yabasanshiro. 7) Enjoy your Saturn games! Note this is an experimental and unsupported hack and most games have graphical or other glitches and some don't work at all. I'm sure Saturn emulation will get better over time though. The source of this hack is here, credit goes to Joolswills: https://github.com/joolswills/RetroPie-Setup/tree/lr-yabasanshiro/scriptmodules/libretrocores
