Echo the sentiment about cluster API. I think that now the new Flux Terraform Provider resource that does bootstrap natively, might make some of these problems go away. But in our enterprise product, we're still leaning on Cluster API for most cluster creation, there is https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/cluster-api-provider-aws which says it also has EKS support.
