Port CAI characters to [Sillytavern]?
If by that you mean your own characters then Using CharacterAI Dumper download your character as a .json file, and then, once that's done upload it to Character Editor and export it as a "character card image"(Tavern Card) Once that's done just upload exported Tavern Card to Silly Tavern and you're good to go.

I want to switch to Pyg, but I am attached to several characters on CAI that I am unable to generate files for.

Trying to import chat from CharacterAI - How long should this take?
than you, google show me your answer ! Its so easy to use TaverAi with your char from Cai. people write longs tutorials, but you only need: 1. Export using https://github.com/0x000011b/characterai-dumper 2. Run TaverAi in google colab,https://colab.research.google.com/github/TavernAI/TavernAI/blob/main/colab/GPU.ipynb 3.Access the front end link provided after its runs (takes a 7-10 min) 4. Create a char in TaverAI, import the chat as you told, and done !!

is there a way to import characters from character ai , as i want to talk to some famous people and most the character i find for pyg are fictional characters , or could you point me to a site which has these types of characters to import?
You can use this to import stuff from CAI: CAI Tools. You can use this website to edit/import as other formats. Here are some websites where you can import characters from: 1. CAI (Obviously) 2. Pygmalion discord (Might as well list this) 3. booru.plus 4. characterhub
