IRC Is the Only Viable Chat Protocol
why not using an end2end encrypted p2p only chat lioe https://cabal.chat instead?
-
Just released my own Chat - Quack 2.0
I've moved to decentralized solutions for this use case, I'm too cheap to pay for GCS when I could just take up everyone who's using it's disk :D
- Discord is at it yet again with server problems. God, they just can’t keep their servers from falling apart, don’t they
- As anarchists, we have every reason to hate and distrust AI. While discussing anarchism with it, ChatGPT4 spontaneously came up with a framework for an online AI-driven platform founded on anarchist principles, and I found what it had to say so compelling that I brought it here for discussion

The internet alternative with no hiarchies
Finally you have "distributed" services. These take the lack of centrality too their logical conclusion. There is no hiarchy between users, everything is directly peer-to-peer with no central connection at all. Think Bittorrent, SMTP (computer-to-computer) mail, Aether, Cabal
- I built a tiny slack alternative for the decentralized web
- DIY copwatch?
- Cabal: Experimental P2P community chat platform
-
Finally! A decentralized ( meaning, no deplatforming by special interests) and uncensorable MGTOW platform. Unmoderated also. A long time in the making :)
Download Cabal using one of those links: https://github.com/cabal-club/cabal-desktop/releases OR https://github.com/cabal-club/cabal-cli.

Good time to remind everyone that an open source E2EE decentralized alternative exists for Discord in the form of https://revolt.chat/

Best alternative?
I haven't looked in to or tried it let due to still having his migraine and nausea the new UI gave me this morning, but just ran across Revolt in another post.
-
imagine ignoring your community....oh wait...
Re-Volt exists
-
They're not gonna listen
I would highly suggest checking out Revolt (found here: https://revolt.chat/), it's still under somewhat heavy development but it's already a million times better than discord in its current state with existing features and planned features.
-
Well, unless things change there is really only one thing to do with the app...
Psst, you should use Revolt: https://revolt.chat/
-
This is AWFUL
So, is Revolt back on the table?
- Discord will switch to temporary file links to block malware delivery

Unlocking Discord Nitro Features for Free
I used gtkcord4, and I didn't get banned. I used Vencord, didn't get banned either. Of course, I wouldn't reccommend using any of these for the saftey of your account, as I was dumb back then and never learned about the risks.
---
Also, one Discord alternative I would reccommend is Revolt[1]. Great community, and was famous for being featured in a No Text To Speech video (and my friend's server had a brief cameo too!), and it's adoption of discriminators (i.e. randomguyabcd#5408).
